About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

hi, China > Hong Kong > China > Ireland

I have been in China for a few weeks and I'm due to leave in a couple of weeks. My visa expires a day before I leave. I am planning to book a flight to fly to Hong Kong for a few days, then fly Hong Kong to Shanghai for my flight back to Ireland. When I arrive in Shanghai to get my flight back to Ireland, my Chinese visa will have expired. Do you think I will be eligible for Transition or I will have an issue?

If you fly Hong Kong - Shanghai - Ireland you're eligible either for the 24h or the 144h twov.
It depends on how long you'll stay in Shanghai.

Thanks Thomas. I am just worried Chinese officials might think I was being sly, given my trip to Hong Kong and back as my visa is expiring...
