Visa Free Transit-36 Hours Layover

Hi, I am an Indian Passport holder and while flying back to US I have a layover in Shanghai for 36 hours. 5AM to 5PM(Next Day). Can I exit the airport without a Visa or is there a transit fee I can pay directly at the airport?

You won't qualify for 144h twov in Shanghai, and you cannot apply for Shanghai VOA, either. You need to apply for a transit G type before your trip.
