Hello, is it possible to extend a 30 day 'friends and family visa' for 30 more days?

A friend is coming to China on a 'friends and family entry permit' - the first time he applied, he was in Australia and they granted 60 days (May and June). The second time he applied, he was in Japan and they only granted 30 days. When he arrives in China (Chengdu) on September 27th, can he extend that entry permit to get an extra 30 days? (i.e. the same 60 days as he was granted from Australia)

It's possible to extend the visa at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. For how long it can be extended depends on the bureau and the reason you why you want it extended. Just give it a try.
