Does the passport you apply for X1 and the passport you enter China have to be the same?

I have dual citizenship and that's why I'm asking if I can enter China with passport 1 then apply for X1 with passport 2

Hi, personally I think they should be the same one. If the valid X1 type is affixed on your passport 2, you need to hold the passport 2 to enter mainland China.
