About:China Train

Train tickets from Taiyuan to Xian but boarding at Pingyao

I would like to know if it’s possible to take a train at Pingyao Station with a Taiyuan-Xian ticket. The Pingyao-Xian ticket is sold out, so I would by a ticket from some stations before Pingyao, in exemple Taiyuan. I want to know if I will have problems to enter the Pingyao station and the Pingyao-Xian train with a ticket that say the origin of my travel is Taiyuan. Thank you!

This is workable, but you need to get the paper ticket in hand before the departure time from Taiyuan. Also make sure the ride you will choose did have a stopover in Pingyao.

I have just done this today and it worked smoothly. No questions asked, it looks like this is something that several locals do all the time, I saw many Chinese travelers departing from Pingyao with tickets from Taiyuan.
