If i want to go tourist trip to china i need an invitation letter or just visa

If i want to travel to china for tourist and i don't have anybody there can i apply for a visa or i need an invitation letter from china

Hi, if you have round trip air tickets and hotel reservation, there is no need to provide invitation letter for that.
