About:Beijing Travel

I am looking at travelling from Macau to Beijing to hopefully see the great wall and forbidden city

Can I fly Macau to BJ..use the 144 hr transit visa and then fly back to Hiong Kong to resume my trip onwards from there?
I was thinking Macau to BJ (2 days there) the BJ to Hong Kong..then carry on my trip
