Does the x2 visa give you multiple entries to China?

I'm wondering since I'll spend a year in China and I would like to visit some other countries in Asia while I'm there. Of what I'm sure is that I do need to leave the country upon the completion of 6 months and re-enter to opt for another 6 months of stay.
