About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Airline Site does not confrm 144hr free transit

We going to be travelling with British Airways soon and some sites state that you have to contact them direct before you arrive at your departing airport here in the UK. However trying to get an easy and quick answer from BA is virtually impossible and all their sites relating to Visa Waivers only give brief information on 72 hrs Free details.
So basically my question is ~ are you sure that all we have to do is highlight our intentions once there and 'boardng' with the airline?. We've read where passengers have been let down with their airlines over this issue. Maybe it has got better recently?

There is no use at all to contact them before checking-in as the agent on the phone can do nothing for you. At the airport, tell them to consult TIMATIC carefully and line by line and have immigration's phone number handy. Arriving at the airport a few hours early is also a good idea in case you need to escalate this to a supervisor.
