About:China Tourist Visa

Hi, Overnight stay in Shanghai

We are Americans traveling from the U.S going to Brisbane Australia. We have an 17 hour overnight lay over in Shanghai on the return flight. Do we need to apply for a visa or can we use the 24hr free transit and get it when we get over there? If allowed, where would we do this at the airport? Thank you for your help!

You are able to use 24 hr TWOV in Shanghai. You need to inform the airline in advance that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai, and show the tickets and passports at the immigration counter upon arrival to apply for that.
