About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am an American flying from India

Hi! I'm flying DEL to PVG landing at 4:55 and flying PVG to JFK leaving at 19:30 - I have a U.S passport so would I qualify?

If you mean leaving the airport, then it is up to the immigration officer and what "policy" they have in store that day. Some reported that bringing a hotel reservation will help. If you do not intend to leave the airport then you are fine.
