About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Am I eligible for the 24-h TWOV

I'll be travelling
Stockholm -> Shanghai -> Taiwan
and
Taiwan -> Ningbo -> Shanghai -> Stockholm

both transits are under are around 10-12h. Ningbo to Shanghai will be by train. Am I eligible for the 24-h TWOV, and if so is it enough that I have all the travel information / tickets printed before hand, and hand it in upon arrival?

Also, I read Shanghai can be very strict. Is there a chance I can be denied entrance?

Shanghai does have strict rules that require passengers to hold a hotel confirmation, although ultimately it depends on what kind of "rules" they are enforcing on that particular day which could be inconsistent even on the same day (unless you are transferring between airports or terminals). As Ningbo is not a particularly big port, you are very likely to be held by local immigration staff for further inspection (a scenario happened to someone I know) which could lead to further delays for your trip or deportation if they are not satisfied that you are a genuine traveler (which eventually happened to that person). I would just get a double-entry transit visa to be safe.

Wait, so you mean that I should technically be eligible for the 24-h TWOV, but that they could be suspect of my trip? I have all my flights booked, so wouldn't it be enough that I show them all the ticket information? I mean it's not that I want to leave the airport to check in to a hotel, but in order to make it to the other airport and make that flight.

Also, the transit where I land in Shanghai I will not need to make any changes so I will stay there, it is for the transit on the back home where I will change from Ningbo to Shanghai.

I would still like to know if my trip would technically be in the rights, anyway thanks for the info!

Shanghai has standard international transit facilities found in most places in the world so you have nothing to worry about if not going through immigration. As for Ningbo, this trip is technically compliant, although the ultimate discretion to let you in rests with immigration. A more likely scenario is that your airline may not let you on board in the first place as they would receive a fine if immigration thinks fit. If you insist to go this route without a visa, you should at least call the airport and have the staff transfer you to the immigration office to confirm. If they say no, then it is a firm no, and it would be foolhardy to travel without a visa. Keep in mind that your passport must be valid for more than 3 months and you must have no Chinese visa refusal stamps in it.
