About:Chongqing Railway Station

US to Beijing (with 4 hour layover in Tokyo) then onward to Seoul.

Hello,
I am flying from San Francisco to Beijing to Seoul.
On my way to Beijing, I was unable to get a non-stop direct flight so I have no choice but to have a 4-hour layover in Tokyo airport (I am not leaving the airport). From there, I continue on to fly to Beijing. I plan to take part of the 144 hour visa stay. I have my flights booked to continue on to Seoul (final destination). Does this qualify? I cannot find information about a short layover.

Yes, you are qualified for the 144-hour visa free. However, if you apply for it in Beijing, the areas you will be allowed to stay are Beijing, Tianjin as well as Hebei. If you want to go to other cities, you should go to a nearby Public Security Bureau to apply for a visa, but it may take a long time.
