Best route from Guangzhou to Kaili?

Can you advise what is the best way to travel by rail from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to Kaili? I was thinking of riding the taxi from the airport going to the railway station, then take the ride going to Kaili from there. Is that okay or will the taxi ride cost me too much? Are there buses available from the airport before the first railway schedule? Thanks!

I think there is no direct rail from Guangzhou to Kaili, however, you can make a transfer at Guiyang. For this Guangzhou-Guiyang-Kaili trip, most high speed rides would depart from Guangzhou South Station. From Baiyun Airport, you can conside the metro as well. The metro line 3 start at 6am from the airport. You can take this line 3 to Jiahewanggang and then change to line 2 there to reach South Railway Station. But the time is not enough to catch the first ride at 7am from South Station. You can choose a later one.

It is ok to spend the night at the airport. But it is better to find a transit hotel.
