Can we take advantage of 144 Visa Free?

We are flying to Shanghai on the 24th August from Tasmania, Australia with Singapore Airlines, arriving at 6:30 am. Then going to board the Majestic Princess cruise at 6pm, from Shanghai. The first day is a Sea day, second day we are at Buson. Am I able to take advantage of the 144 Free transit. Thank you.
