About:144-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

I will arrive to Hong Kong and then fly out to Shanghai the following day to visit friends.

I will be staying in SH for 3 nights and then flying back to Hong Kong? How do I know whether I qualify for the 144-hour visa free transit? Also, do I need to fill out any documents in place of the visa?

That obviously doesn’t qualify because it’s not a transit.

Another option is to fly Hong Kong-Shanghai-Macau, which doesn’t require a visa.
