About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

10 hours in Pudong

I am a US citizen (US passport holder) that will be traveling back to the US after a holiday in Singapore with a 10 hour lay over in Pudong on the return leg, I wish to exit the airport to check out the city for a few hours while i am in transit. My route is:
Outbound - SFO-Pudong-Singapore
Return - Singapore -Pudong-SFO

Do I qualify for the 72 hour free transit?

Your route qualifies for transit without visa. Whether you’re allowed to leave the airport or not is up to the immigration officer. There have been several recent reports of passengers being denied entry on short transits.
