About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei

Please confirm if I qualify for the 144hr transit without visa

I think I qualify but want to get confirmation. I am a US Passport holder and will be traveling HKG-PEK-BOS

I found this on the Beijing airport FAQ site that concerns me a bit since my country of origin is the US:

"3、If citizens from any of the 53 designated countries arrive in BJ with a valid ticket for travel to their country of origin, with a confirmed seat and with a departure time within 144 hours of entry to BJ, would he/she be eligible for the 144 hour visa-free transit policy?

The policy applies for 144-hour visa-free transit rather than visa-free entry. Therefore, the applicant should transit to a third country or region to be eligible for this policy. Travelers returning to their country of origin would not be eligible for this policy."

It's fine, you qualify. Your origin is Hong Kong, and your destination is USA. That paragraph simply means that Hong Kong-China-Hong Kong is not allowed.
