About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

transit from Gangzhou urumchi to astana

hello,
My wife has a kazakshtan passport, ( i have australian). We wish to travel brisbane- gangzhou urumchi astana with China Southern. Will we need transit Gs. We have no plans to stay in China, just transit through. If we need entry permits, what , where and how?

Your wife definitely requires a visa in advance. You may also need one depending on the length of your transits. Urumqi allows a maximum transit time of 2 hours, but this does not apply to nationals of Kazakhstan. If you are in Urumqi for less than 2 hours, and in China for less than 24 hours, then the Australian passport holder does not need a Chinese visa.
