About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I use the 72 hour Visa?I am a US citizen

I am a US citizen traveling from Hiroshima to Beijing to Hong Kong back to USA. Can I use the 72 hour free transit for my time in Beijing (3 days)? I don't think I need a visa for Hong Kong. Please confirm.
