TWOV if departing from USA

Timatic says passengers arriving in China for transit to a third country from a direct flight departing from USA are not eligible for TWOV and must leave China within 2 hours.
Does anyone has experience with that or has done it already? Is it really not possible?

You must be misreading Timatic. The 2 hour restriction only applies to transits in Urumqi (URC).
