About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Which visa is applicable to this visit: direct transit, 24 hour or 72 hour free transit?

We are four Australians arriving in Shanghai at 0545 on a flight from Bangkok, and departing the same day in the evening on a cruise ship.
