About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

US passport. Hello I am travelling from YVR to PVG to KMG to SGN

do I need a China visa on transit within 24hrs

You can get 24 hr direct transit in mainland China as long as the total layover in PVG and KMG is within 24 hours. No visa is needed.
