About:China Transit Visa

I'm an Indian Citizen. Do I need transit visa for 1 transfer and 1 technical stop at China

I'm an Indian Citizen. I'm travelling form San Francisco - Shanghai - Delhi with 04 hr 45 min layover at Shanghai and coming back from Kolkata - Kunming - Qingdao - San Francisco. There is 03 hr 15 min layover at Kunming and 01 hr 50 min technical stop at Qingdao. My US entry permit is expired but I'll get the it stamped before travelling back. Considering this information, do I need transit G for China? Thank you so much for your help.

Hi, you are able to apply for the 24 hr direct transit in mainland China in both directions. no need to apply for a transit G type for that. Nice trip.

Thanks for your response Harry. Where do I apply for 24 hr direct transit? Do I have to apply at the airport itself?

I'm exploring another option to go by Cathey Pacific. I heard from some travel agents that if there is long layover then I need transit visa. The ticket I'm looking has 16 hrs layover at Hongkong while coming back and travel agent told me that I would need transit visa. Is that true?

You do not need a visa or a PAR to transit in HK if you don't clear immigration. There is a much longer discussion thread under the Hong Kong visa section regarding PAR application by your fellow countrymen if you want to leave the airport.
