About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Separate tickets. Thanks!

I'm flying from Tokyo to Shanghai with one ticket, and then I want to buy a different ticket from Shangai to a third country. Total time in China will be less than 48h. I can use the transit visa even if these are two different tickets and not the same reservation?
