seat for onward ticket before check in?

Hi! I will travel from EU to Shanghai and then on to Hong Kong 3 days later. I can show them my booking for Hong Kong but since I am not checked in (and cannot check in yet) I dont know how to show them my confirmed seat? Is it ok anyway if they see the booking?

You don't need a confirmed "seat", you need a confirmed ticket. There is no requirement to select a seat in advance.
