About:China Private Visit Visa

Changing from S1 to X1 visa

I just got a letter of notification of work permit in China for 2 years as a postdoctoral researcher and I want my family to join me after few months with S1 type. I would like to know please if my wife can get X1 type on getting to China since we are planning that she will proceed for her PhD study over there? Thank you.

Hi, it's possible to change the S1 type into a X1 type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can succeed, your wife doesn’t need to go back to your home country for that.
