Stay in Singapore 4 nights and have hotel confirmed. Fly to Tokyo, Japan and have hotel confirmed for 4 nights and fly to US arriving Oct 27. Is this within the144 hour tourist time ? 1) That's within the time limit.
2) No.
3) You cannot. Registration must be done by the hotel.
4) It is not a visa and there is no system for you to register online to save time at the border. You need to fill out a form and a landing card at immigration (although the landing card is usually distributed on the plane). Waiting time may be several minutes to several hours depending on how many people are ahead of you (longest time reported is 8 hours). If you don't want to wait at immigration you can get a 10-year tourist visa before arrival and use the regular lanes.
