About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit to Beijing via SIngapore

I will travel from Australia -> Beijing (48hours) -> Singapore but the flight will be on Singapore Airlines so Australia to Beijing will pickup a new flight number in Singapore - does this qualify for 72 hour Visa in Beijing?
