Do I qualify for 72-Hour Visa-Free Transit?A Canadian citizen

I am a Canadian citizen traveling from Hong Kong through Guangzhou to Toronto. Do I qualify for 72-Hour Visa-Free Transit? I will stay in Guangzhou for less than 72 hours, but I've heard that China doesn't consider Hong Kong a transit for 72 hours exempt. How can I confirm this?

Hong Kong is ALWAYS considered as a third country for immigration and customs purposes. If still in doubt, you can call the airport's immigration office.
