Transit visa for Kiribati citizen

Hi I am planning to travel to Amsterdam From Sydney through Shanghai. 4 hours layover at Shanghai on my way to amsterdam and 14 hours when I return from amsterdam. I hold a Kiribati passport but I'm on a study visa in Australia. Is that allowed?

You could apply for 24 hr direct transit in Shanghai in both directions, and no Chinese visa is needed for that. Nice trip.
