Which area will be more advisable for convenience of transportation to Datong? Is there a bus or train that can take us to Datong from the JSL or Simatai area.? Thank you all for the good advise you provide. A

You are advised to go to Jinshanling section first. However, there is no direct transportation between Datong and Beijing Great Wall. Take a train to Beijing Railway Station. Then take metro line 2 to Dongzhimen. Take bus line 980 Express to Miyun County at Dongzhimen Long Distance Bus Station. After arriving, hire a car to the scenic area. :)
