I will be arriving in Shanghai by cruise ship and will stay overnight at a hotel and fly home the next day. This is about 30 hours in China. Will I qualify for a 72 hour visa?

The Shanghai 72 hr free transit is updated to a 144 hr free transit. If you travel like Country A > Shanghai > Country B, it does not matter what country B is (just as long as its not same as country A) , you qualify for the Shanghai 144 hr free transit, and no visa is needed.
