About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour stay

If a person flies from Canada to Shanghai and applies for the 144 hour stay... you would have to fly to some other place than back to Canada to qualify for the 144 hour stay.. such as Hong Kong... a person could not fly from Canada to Shanghai stay for 144 hours and then fly back to Canada?

Yes, you are right that Canada-Shanghai-HK will be fine. Canada-Shanghai-Canada is not a transit, so you cannot apply for the 144 hr free transit policy.
