About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

multiple legs in one trip equal less than 72 hours is okay?

Hi,

I will be flying from san francisco 4/20 to shanghai for 22 hour layover - then seoul to qingdao for 20 hour layover before heading back to san francisco on 5/4. It will be 42 hours in 2 different china cities, so will that still be covered in the 72 hour policy? In addition, on the san francisco chinese consulate website qingdao is not listed as a city covered in the 72 hour policy; however, it is listed on this site -- where can I find a definite answer?

Thank you

The period resets every time you enter China, and since your layovers are less than 24 hours, you will only get 24-hour transit in these cities.
