About:China Visa

Cruise ship port

I am so disappointed to find out that when our ship stops in Shanghai and continues to Pusan we are not eligible for the 144hr free visa because we re-enter the same port terminal to reboard our ship .. “Entering and leaving from the same airport, railway station or cruise terminal is not allowed.” Is that correct? It is so confusing.. Our ship is in Shanghai just for 30 hours!

Angela, as I know, if your travel route would be country A-Shanghai (6 days)-country B, you can get the 144hr free transit in Shanghai. No matter in which airport, railway station or cruise terminal you do the transit.

But we enter and exit same port terminal .. which I understand is not allowed. So can we get off the ship in Shanghai for a shore excursion and then re board the ship again on the 144hr free transit? 🙏🙏

I've seen that phrase mentioned on some shanghai tourist agency site. Its 100% incorrect. Never seen that mentioned anywhere else or in TIMATIC which is where the official rules are published. You can enter and leave shanghai from the same port. You just can't arrive from and depart to the same country
