I want to study in China, but my mom already issued a tourist L for me due to a visit previously planned. So, I am wondering if it's possible to change it into a student X or apply for a new one without modifying my schedule.

Hi, it's possible to change the L type into a student X at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. Or you can try to apply for a student X type in your home country before entering mainland China.
