About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

singapore to Guangzhou and back

I need to travel on a short notice from Singapore to Guangzhou and return to Singapore. My departure ticket would not be to another country than Singapore, which is the starting country, and Singapore would be the destination country also - back to Singapore. In this case, can I enjoy the 72h transit policy? If yes, do I have to declare that I stay longer than 24h, at a police station?

Of course you cannot enjoy the 72h transit policy, because you are not in transit. You need a visa or you need a new route.

Thanks Rob. How about if I fly from Singapore to Hong Kong via Guangzhou (72h transit)?

That is fine if your flights are nonstop.

Singapore-Guangzhou-Hong Kong will qualify for the free transit policy. Don't worry.
