we are a family of 5 3 children age(5,7,13), we are looking to mostly enjoy the beach, and take hikes where it is possible.We would prefer to stay out of the busiest areas, but still have the option of restaurants etc-in which area pf the Island do you recommend we stay?

Hi, KM! I happen to know a great place! Houhai Village, which is located between Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay. Besides, the ferry to Wuzhizhou Island sets off from here. There are much fewer visitors than in those popular attractions and not short of delicious local foods!

Yalong Bay is best. 7 kilometer long beach and at central Yalong bay you have plenty of local restaurants (near MGM hotel), fast food (pizza, burgers) and supermarkets. Beach and sea are clean in Yalong bay. The 30 kilometer distance from city ensures less crowds and more peaceful holiday. It only takes 40 minutes to downtown. If you want to save money then I would advise doing all the shopping in downtown around Jiefang and Sanya Hexi roads. Cost for basic items can be half of the Yalong bay supermarkets (or restaurants).
