About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

i have a Vietnam passport and a US Green card

and US permanent resident, can I travel to Hong Kong and stay about a week without Visa while I travel from US to Vietnam and return?

No, you cannot do that. You should apply for a visa for HK before your trip.
