About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

so to use the 72 hour visa

i cant come from korea to china then back to korea? I would have to buy another destination, say korea-beijing-HK-korea??

Correct. You have to be in transit; it's not a visa.

The T in TWOV stands for transit. A > China > A is not a transit thus actual visa is needed.
A > China > B is a transit & B > China > A is a transit. Hong Kong for example is considered a separate country so adding that or another country (other than the one you entered from) would make you eligible
