I went into the Chinese-US Embassy and they reissued me a new one to return to the States. How does this affect my new application to China as I apply it myself this time and I do not have my old Chinese passport for I am US citizen.

Hi, Ying, if you didn't overstay the Chinese visa on purpose, it would not affect your new application to China. Don't worry about that too much.
