About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling Hong Kong -> Beijing -> Hong Kong, will 144 hr visa be an option?

Hello, my fiance and I will be traveling to Hong Kong where we are currently planning to stay 9 nights. We would like to fly from Hong Kong to Beijing (spend 2 or 3 nights) and then fly back to Hong Kong (Hong Kong-Beijing-Hong Kong). Is it okay to do? Will we still be able to use the 72 or 144-hr free transit option?

Thanks!

No, it has to be different than the original departure airport. You can fly to Macau on your way back, but not directly to HK.
