Do I have to apply for a student visa?

I hold a chinese travel entry permit and will only go to china for a 2-week exchange programme which dont seem much have much of a studying aspect in it.
Am I still required to obtain a student X? And if so, is it okay to have both a travel visa and a student X at the same time?
