About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layover at PVG

I recently travelled from the US through PVG, en route to Japan, and was told that the 72 hour Visa at that airport was no longer allowed.
Was counting on using it in April when I have a 15 hour layover, heading to Thailand. Is it being honored again or should I count on staying in the airport?

There hasn't been 72 hours transit without visa for a couple of years at PVG; there is only 144 hours and 24 hours now. You should be eligible for 24 hours transit without visa, but recently there have been reports of passengers not being allowed to leave the airport at PVG.
