Chinese citizen/US PR traveling to China with US minor child

Hi,

I'm a Chinese citizen and US greencard holder living in USA. My 12-yr old son is a US citizen with valid passport. We plan to travel to China, where we will visit Chinese friends and relatives in several cities over a period of 28 days. Can I apply for an L for my son, or must it be a Q type?

Thanks!
