About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi. Do I qualify for the 72 hour free transit?

I will be travelling to Japan from Toronto, with an overnight stopover in Shanghai.
A week later I will be returning to Toronto from Japan, with an stopover in Shanghai.

Do I qualify for the free transit for the first leg, Toronto Canada to Japan.

And then do I qualify for another free transit for the second leg - Japan to Toronto Canada?
