About:China Tourist Visa

I am a New Zealand citizen living in Australia since 1967. I have no permanent resident Visa.

On the list of requirements for an L for China the requirement list says that a proof of residency is required if the person is not applying for the visa in the country of the passport. As I arrived in Australia before entry permits were necessary I do not have one. I have a New Zealand passport. Will this be a problem when I apply for my China entry permit.

You need to use Visa Entitlement Verification Online to verify your current status in Australia. Visa labels are no longer issued from 1994 and all NZ citizens legally residing in Australia should either have a Category 444 visa (commonly called a Special Category Visa) or a permanent resident visa, and if you don't have either one you need to solve the matter with Dept of Home Affairs. If you are a permanent resident visa holder, you should also apply for a Resident Return Visa (Cat 155) before leaving Australia so you can return to Australia as a permanent resident.

Regardless of what you have, you should bring a printout of your VEVO record. If you do not have an SCV, however, you may want to talk to Home Affairs first.
