About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa?flying with american passport.

Flying from Manila to Beijing direct flight - round trip. Would I need to stop by a third country before arriving to Manila?

Yes. You need a visa to fly Manila-Beijing-Manila non-stop. But Manila-XXX-Beijing-Manila or Manila-Beijing-XXX-Manila works, as long as XXX is not Philippines or China.

Manila - Beijing - Beijing - HK - Manila will be ok to use the visa-free transit.
