72 hours staying in Beijing with no visa entry

Hi, i'm USA passport holder, and i have plan to staying in Beijing for 72 hours with no visa entry, i'm in transit to South Korea. But my concern is my passport expires within 6 months.

i just found out that there is passport 6 month validity rule. i wonder is this rule apply to 72 hours free entry as well.

You are able to use visa-free transit in Beijing by traveling like that, and it will be ok if your passport valid for more than 3 months from the arrival date.
